Practical Information

The conference will be held in the Centre Paul Langevin (CNRS) in Aussois: https://www.caes.cnrs.fr/sejours/centre-paul-langevin/

ProbGen participants are  expected to arrive in the conference centre on Sunday afternoon (there will be a welcome reception at 6:45 pm; dinner at 7:30 pm). Rooms will be accessible at 4 pm. PopSim participants are  expected to arrive on Saturday afternoon (welcome reception at 6:45 pm; dinner at 7:30 pm).

How to come to Aussois

Aussois is a small resort in the french Alps. Except if you intend to come by car you should arrive at Modane train station. From there we will organize transfers to Aussois or you can book your own transfer (it takes about 10' by car to go from the train station to Aussois).

Here is the planning of bus shuttles, with the list of expected passengers:

Important notice: ProbGen participants who are not included in the above lists are expected to go to the conference center by their own means (taxi, car, ...). If you wish to take one of these shuttles but are not yet registered, contact  immediately probgen2019@sciencesconf.org.

Travelling by plane:

The closest international airport is Lyon Saint Exupery (LYS), but you might try to fly to Torino, Chambéry, Geneva, Milano or Paris.

There is a train station in Lyon Saint Exupery airport, with direct trains (2 per day) to Modane (~2 hours).

If you fly to Torino (TRN), take a train shuttle from the airport to Torino central station (~20’). There are direct trains from Torino (central station) to Modane (~1h30).

For your return journey: we will organize a bus shuttle on Wednesday 9 Oct.,  from Aussois directly to Lyon Saint Exupery (LYS). The bus will arrive at the airport at 4:00 pm.

Travelling by train:

You should arrive at Modane train station. There are direct TGV trains from Paris ('Gare de Lyon' ; 4h), Lyon central station ('Gare de la Part Dieu'; 2h30), Lyon Saint-Exupery international airport (2h), Torino central station (1h30) and Milano central station (3h00).

From Paris Charles de Gaulle international airport and from Geneva you have to make at least one change.

For your return journey: we will organize shuttles on Wednesday 9 Oct.,  from Aussois to Modane train station. We will also organize a bus shuttle directly to Lyon Saint Exupery (LYS). The bus will arrive at the airport/train station at 4:00 pm.

Travelling by car:

take the Alpine highway A43 exit number 30 Modane-Haute Maurienne-Vanoise. Continue on D1006 until Modane. Drive across the town and then turn left in the direction of Aussois on D215. There is a 7 km drive uphill to arrive at the village. 

Transfer from Modane to Aussois: 
If you intend to come from Modane train station to Aussois by your own means, you have the following possibilities.
